Quality and food safety 

JAVA gives the highest priority to food safety. As a distributor, JAVA not only wants to serve as an interface between producers and mass caterers but also as a filter continuously monitoring producers.

 

Consistent monitoring which takes place during receipt of goods, stocking, order picking and transporting ensure that JAVA is able to offer safe and high quality products.
In June 2000, this constant vigilance about hygiene paid off when JAVA received the HACCP certificate. At the end of 2006, JAVA was awarded the ISO 22000 certificate. This is proof that food safety and quality are JAVA's major concerns.

Deeds, not words

JAVA should be able at any time to show that it acts according to the law and regulatory processes. In addition, the requirements of customers must be continuously evaluated and satisfied. 

 
JAVA offers its customers guarantees which go beyond legal stipulations. For instance, for certain products such as yoghurt, JAVA guarantees 10 days of shelf life from the moment of delivery. Not only JAVA's adherence to quality and freshness plays a role here but also the high level of service that JAVA wants to be able to offer continuously.
Together with the food safety team, bio-engineer Koen Van Hecke is responsible for the management and execution of the company's food safety system.  

A continuous process

The management of JAVA has to regularly evaluate the company's food safety policy. During this process, not only does account have to be taken of legal requirements but also of the wishes of customers.


After a risk analysis, the company has to draw up a plan (plan) that describes how the organisation should deal with these risks if required. These plans are then worked out for the whole organisation (act) which will then carry out the plan (do). It has to be continuously ascertained if any adjustments are required (check). The Deming circle is then completed.


Every day, JAVA tries to ensure that the food safety and quality of all its products and services come within the standards in force under the ISO 22000 certificate. Our customers will then be able to benefit from our efforts.
